Waypost

Go out alone.
Never be alone.

Waypost emails your location and a map to a few people you choose, every few minutes, while you are out walking or running. No account, no sign-up, and nothing for them to install — they just get an email saying where you are.

Free · iPhone · iOS 16.4 or later

How it works

  1. Choose who to tell. An email address is enough. Your mother, your partner, the friend who always asks you to text when you get back.
  2. Press start and walk. Waypost keeps working with the screen off and in your pocket. You do not have to look at it again.
  3. They get an email every few minutes. Where you are, how long you have been out, how far you have walked and how much battery your phone has left. If the updates stop, they know something is worth checking.

This is what they receive

No app, no link to create anything, no password. It arrives in the inbox they already read.

The next update should arrive in about 15 minutes. If much more time goes by with no news, try to get in touch. It may be poor coverage or a flat battery, but it is worth checking.

Organizing a race or a group walk?

The same idea, for a whole start list. You build the event, upload the route, place the checkpoints and paste your participants' emails. Each one gets their own link — that link is how they enter the event from the app, with no account to create.

While the event is on you see who has started, which checkpoints they have passed and who has not finished yet. When it closes, the report and the timings land in your inbox.

Setting up the event costs nothing. You only pay when you add participants, and you see the price before you pay.
